“Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”
(Hebrews 13:5 NIV)
Devotional
The book of Hebrews was written to believers who were weary and tempted to turn back from their faith. They faced persecution, loss, and uncertainty about the future. In that context, this verse reminded them of God’s unshakable promise. No matter what they endured, He would not abandon them.
This assurance also connects to the call to be free from the love of money and to find contentment in God. Earthly security can feel comforting, but it never lasts. Wealth can be lost, possessions can fade, and circumstances can shift overnight. Only God’s presence gives lasting peace.
These words also echo God’s promise to Joshua before he led Israel into the Promised Land. Joshua was stepping into overwhelming responsibility, yet God told him, “I will never leave you nor forsake you” (Joshua 1:5). That same faithful God speaks the same truth to you today.
When we grasp this promise, it reshapes how we face life’s challenges. We can move forward with courage, not because everything feels certain, but because we know God goes with us. His presence is constant, His care is faithful, and His love will never let us go.
Reflection
When I feel uncertain or afraid, I can rest in the truth that God has not left me. His presence gives me courage for the unknown and peace in the middle of change. I can live each day knowing I am never truly alone.
Prayer
Father, thank You for Your promise that You will never leave me or forsake me. Help me to trust Your presence when I feel weak or anxious. Fill me with peace and confidence as I walk through this day with You by my side.
