“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
[Jeremiah 29:11 NIV]
Devotional
When Jeremiah spoke these words to the exiled people of Israel, they were far from home, discouraged, and uncertain about what lay ahead. God’s people had been carried off to Babylon, and many wondered if He had forgotten them. Yet in the middle of their pain, God spoke a word of hope. He assured them that His plans were not for destruction, but for restoration and blessing.
This verse reminds us that God is never distant from our circumstances. Even when life feels unsettled or confusing, He is still weaving His purposes together for our good. His plans are not accidents or afterthoughts, but intentional promises rooted in His love.
We may not always see the full picture, and the waiting can be hard. Still, God calls us to trust that His heart for us is good. Just as He guided Israel through their season of exile into a hopeful future, He is guiding us today with the same faithfulness and care.
Our hope is not in the shifting events of this world but in the steady hand of the Lord who declares, “I know the plans I have for you.”
Reflection
God’s promise of hope and a future is for me today. I can rest knowing that even when I cannot see the details, He holds the plan in His hands. My role is to trust Him step by step and keep walking in faith.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for reminding me that Your plans for me are good. Help me to trust You when life feels uncertain and to rest in the hope You have promised. Give me faith to believe that my future is secure in Your hands.
