“And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
[Matthew 28:20 NIV]
Devotional
These words were spoken by Jesus right after giving His disciples the Great Commission. He was sending them out into a world that would not always welcome them, into a mission that felt bigger than they could handle. Yet He did not send them empty-handed. He promised His presence, a steady assurance that no matter where they went, He would be with them.
This promise was not only for the first disciples but for every follower of Christ. Life often brings us into places where we feel overwhelmed, uncertain, or even abandoned. But Jesus reminds us that we are never truly alone. His Spirit is with us in our joys, in our struggles, and in the quiet moments when no one else sees.
God’s presence is not limited by time or distance. He does not leave when things get hard, nor does He disappear when we stumble. His promise is steady: “always,” even “to the very end of the age.” This means His presence is as real today as it was for those first disciples who stood on that hillside with Him.
When we live with this awareness, it changes the way we face each day. Fear loses its grip, discouragement is lifted, and courage begins to grow. We can step into our calling with confidence because we do not walk it out alone.
Reflection
Today, remember that no matter what you face, you carry the presence of Jesus with you. When fear or loneliness whispers, hold onto His promise: He is with you always.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You for Your faithful presence in my life. Help me to walk with confidence, knowing that I am never alone. Strengthen my heart to trust Your promise today and every day.
