“Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.”
[Revelation 3:20 NIV]
Devotional
This beautiful picture from Revelation reminds us of the gentle patience of Jesus. He does not force His way into our lives. Instead, He stands at the door and knocks, waiting for us to open our hearts to Him. In the culture of the first century, to share a meal was more than eating food. It was a sign of close friendship and fellowship. That is what Jesus is offering.
The church in Laodicea had grown spiritually lukewarm, distracted by comfort and wealth. Yet even then, Jesus did not reject them. Instead, He invited them back into a living relationship with Him. This same invitation extends to us. No matter how far we may drift, His desire is always to restore and renew fellowship.
When we open the door of our hearts, we do not find judgment waiting on the other side. We find the Savior who longs to sit with us, listen to us, and walk with us in daily life. His presence is what satisfies our deepest hunger and thirst.
Reflection
Jesus is knocking at the door of your heart today. Will you pause, listen, and welcome Him in? He promises not just a visit, but fellowship and joy that endures.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You for knocking on the door of my heart. Help me to keep that door open to You every day. I welcome Your presence and ask You to fill my life with Your peace and friendship. Amen.
