Reigning in Life Through Christ

“For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God’s abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ!”

[Romans 5:17 NIV]

Devotional

Paul reminds us of the contrast between Adam and Christ. Through Adam’s sin, death entered the world, touching every life with its shadow. But in Christ, the story changes completely. Where sin and death once ruled, God now offers grace and righteousness as a gift, not something earned but freely given through faith in Jesus.

The phrase “reign in life” is powerful. It does not mean we avoid every hardship or never face trials. Instead, it means that even in the midst of challenges, we live with the confidence of God’s grace covering us and Christ’s victory leading us. We are no longer under the reign of sin or fear. We live under the reign of Jesus, who conquered death and gave us new life.

This promise reminds us that grace is not just for forgiveness but also for empowerment. God’s grace equips us to walk in freedom, strength, and joy. Because of Christ, we do not live defeated lives. We are invited to live as children of the King, reflecting His love and victory each day.

Reflection

You can face today not as one weighed down by guilt or fear, but as one covered by grace and clothed in Christ’s righteousness. Remember, you are not trying to earn God’s favor—you already have it in Jesus.

Prayer

Father, thank You for the abundant grace and the gift of righteousness You have given me through Jesus. Help me live each day with the confidence that I am reigning in life through Him. Strengthen me to walk in Your victory and reflect Your love to others.
