Be Strong and Take Heart

“Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the Lord.”

[Psalm 31:24 NIV]

Devotional

Psalm 31 was written by David during a time of deep distress. He faced enemies, betrayal, and moments of fear, yet his hope remained anchored in God’s faithfulness. The psalm is filled with raw honesty, as David pours out his heart, but it also ends with encouragement: strength and courage belong to those who place their hope in the Lord.

Strength in the Bible is not simply about physical ability or willpower. It comes from leaning on God when our own resources fail. Courage is not the absence of fear but the decision to trust God even when the future feels uncertain. David’s life was full of battles, both literal and emotional, but he discovered that God was his refuge and fortress.

When we choose to hope in the Lord, we are not hoping in a wishful sense. Our hope rests on God’s proven character and promises. He is faithful, steady, and unchanging. Because of who He is, we can rise each day with courage, knowing He holds our lives securely in His hands.

Reflection

Today, remind yourself that your strength does not depend on your circumstances but on your God. Place your hope in Him, and He will give you the courage to face whatever lies ahead.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for being my strength and refuge. Help me to take heart and stand firm in Your promises. Teach me to trust in You fully so that I may walk with courage and hope each day.
