Rest Without Fear

“When you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.”

[Proverbs 3:24 NIV]

Devotional

God promises His children rest that is both peaceful and secure. In a world filled with anxiety and unrest, this verse is a gentle reminder that He cares even about the moments when we close our eyes. Solomon, in writing these words, was teaching that when we walk in God’s wisdom and trust His ways, fear loses its grip and rest becomes possible.

Sleep can sometimes be hard to find when our minds are restless. Worry about tomorrow, regret from yesterday, or the burdens of today often keep us awake. But God’s wisdom brings peace, because it anchors us in His unchanging truth. When we trust Him, we no longer need to carry the weight of fear into the night.

This promise is not simply about physical rest, but also about the deep soul-rest that comes from knowing we are safe in His hands. Even in uncertain times, the Lord surrounds His people with His peace, allowing us to lie down without fear and rise renewed. His presence is the blanket of security that covers us as we sleep.

Reflection

Tonight, as you prepare for rest, remember that God is watching over you. Lay your fears at His feet and invite His peace to fill your heart. He promises to give you sweet sleep when you trust Him.

Prayer

Father, thank You for being my peace and protector. Help me to release my worries into Your hands and trust Your care over me. Tonight, may I rest without fear and wake refreshed in the safety of Your love.
