God Will Finish What He Started

“Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”

[Philippians 1:6 NIV]

Devotional

Paul wrote these words to the believers in Philippi as an encouragement and reminder that their faith was secure in Christ. He knew that the God who had saved them would not abandon them halfway through the journey. Just as a master builder does not leave a house unfinished, God does not leave His children incomplete.

Sometimes we look at our lives and see flaws, failures, and areas where growth feels painfully slow. We may wonder if we will ever measure up to what God desires. But this verse assures us that our transformation is not ultimately up to our own strength. God Himself is at work in us, shaping, refining, and guiding us toward the likeness of His Son.

The “good work” is more than just our salvation; it includes our ongoing growth in character, our service to others, and our witness to the world. It is God’s project, and He has promised to complete it. This means we can rest in His faithfulness even when our own hearts feel weak.

Reflection

I can trust that God is not finished with me yet. Even in seasons where progress feels slow, I can hold onto the promise that He is faithfully working in my life. My job is to remain open and willing while He continues His good work.

Prayer

Father, thank You for beginning Your good work in me. Help me to trust that You will carry it through to completion. Strengthen my heart to rest in Your faithfulness, and give me patience as You shape me into who You have called me to be.
