God Is Always Near

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”

[Psalm 46:1 NIV]

Devotional

When life feels uncertain or overwhelming, it is easy to wonder where God is. Psalm 46 reminds us that He is not distant or indifferent; He is our refuge and strength. The word “refuge” paints the image of a safe shelter, a place to run when storms rage. No matter what chaos surrounds us, God remains a steady, unshakable presence.

The psalm was written during a time of crisis for God’s people, yet it begins with confidence, not fear. The writer knew that God was both powerful and personal, strong enough to protect and near enough to comfort. That same truth holds for us today. We do not need to face hardship alone or in our own strength. God stands beside us, ready to help at every moment.

When we pause and remember who He is, fear loses its grip. His presence does not always remove the trouble, but it changes how we walk through it. We can breathe again, knowing that the Lord who made the mountains is holding us steady.

Reflection

God is not far from your struggles. He is right there with you. Whatever you face today, rest in the promise that He is your refuge, your strength, and your constant help.

Prayer

Father, thank You for being my refuge and strength. Help me to remember that You are always near, especially when I feel overwhelmed. Teach me to trust Your presence more each day.
