“For no matter how many promises God has made, they are ‘Yes’ in Christ. And so through him the ‘Amen’ is spoken by us to the glory of God.”
[2 Corinthians 1:20 NIV]
Devotional
God’s promises are not uncertain or dependent on our circumstances. They find their fulfillment in Jesus Christ. When Paul wrote these words to the church in Corinth, he was reminding believers that every assurance God has ever made, from forgiveness to peace to eternal life, is confirmed and completed through Christ.
Sometimes we doubt God’s promises because of delays, difficulties, or disappointments. Yet in Jesus, God has already given His final answer. It is not “maybe,” but “yes.” His faithfulness is unchanging, even when ours wavers. The cross and the resurrection are proof that every word God has spoken is trustworthy.
When we say “Amen” to His promises, we are agreeing with what God has already declared. We are saying, “Yes, Lord, I believe You will do what You have said.” This is not wishful thinking; it is confident trust in the One who never fails.
Reflection
All of God’s promises are fulfilled in Jesus. Whatever you are waiting for, remember that His “yes” is already spoken over your life. You can trust Him completely.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You that every promise of God is fulfilled in You. Help me to rest in Your faithfulness and to live with confidence in Your “yes.”
