“The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?”
[Psalm 27:1 NIV]
Devotional
David wrote this psalm out of deep confidence in God’s protection and presence. Surrounded by enemies and uncertainty, he declared that the Lord was his light, his salvation, and his stronghold. Light drives out darkness, salvation rescues from danger, and a stronghold provides safety and peace. When God is all three, there is no reason to fear.
Fear often tries to take hold of our hearts when life feels uncertain or overwhelming. Yet this verse reminds us that courage is not found in our own strength but in who God is. His light gives clarity when the path ahead seems dim, His salvation brings security, and His presence surrounds us with peace.
When we focus on God instead of our fears, faith grows stronger. The same God who defended David stands with us today. Whatever shadows try to rise around you, remember that His light is greater, His power is stronger, and His love is constant.
Reflection
You do not have to be afraid. The Lord is your light, your salvation, and your stronghold. Trust His strength and rest in His unfailing protection.
Prayer
Father, thank You for being my light and my salvation. When fear tries to take hold of my heart, remind me that You are my refuge and my strength.
