“That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever they do prospers.”
[Psalm 1:3 NIV]
Devotional
Psalm 1 paints a picture of the life rooted in God. The one who delights in His Word and lives by His wisdom is not easily shaken by circumstances. Instead, they are like a tree planted beside a constant source of water. The stream never runs dry, and because of that, the tree never stops receiving what it needs. This is God’s promise to those who walk with Him: stability, nourishment, and lasting strength.
This verse does not promise a life without difficulty, but it does promise resilience. Seasons will come and go, some bright and some challenging. Yet the person planted in God’s truth will still bear fruit in the right time. Their growth is not dependent on the weather around them but on the presence of God within them. Even in heat or drought, their leaf does not wither, because their roots go deep into the living water He provides.
Prosperity in this passage is not about effortless success. It is about flourishing in God’s purpose, growing in character, and seeing His hand at work in every step. A life anchored in Him becomes steady, fruitful, and meaningful. While the world chases quick results, God forms lasting transformation in the hearts of those who remain close to Him.
Take comfort today in knowing that your life is held and nourished by God. When you stay rooted in Him, He brings growth, strength, and fruit in the perfect season.
