“Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.”
[Acts 16:31 NIV]
Devotional
These words were spoken to the Philippian jailer, a man moments away from despair. After an earthquake shook the prison and the doors flew open, he feared the worst. But Paul and Silas stopped him, offering not only reassurance but the greatest hope he would ever receive. In his moment of deep need, he asked the most important question anyone can ask: What must I do to be saved? Their answer was simple, clear, and full of grace.
This promise stands at the heart of the gospel. Salvation is not earned by effort or religious performance. It begins with believing in Jesus—trusting in His life, His sacrifice, and His power to save. God meets us in our brokenness and calls us to turn to Christ, who freely gives forgiveness, new life, and eternal hope. It is a gift, not a burden.
The promise extended beyond the jailer to his entire household. God’s grace often ripples outward, touching lives we care about and bringing hope where we never expected it. When one heart turns to Jesus, others often follow. The good news of salvation transforms families, restores relationships, and plants seeds of faith that continue to grow.
Let this verse remind you today that God’s salvation is near, accessible, and powerful. Wherever you are, whatever you face, Jesus is ready to save, strengthen, and renew.
