Trust That Never Fails

Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.

[Psalm 20:7 NIV]

Devotional

Psalm 20 was a prayer for God’s help and victory, often spoken before a king went into battle. The people recognized that armies could place their confidence in weapons, strength, or strategy. But David knew true security did not come from human resources. It came from the Lord. Chariots break. Horses tire. Strategies fail. But the name of the Lord remains unshakable.

This promise is just as powerful today. We all face challenges that tempt us to lean on our own efforts or the world’s solutions. We may look to finances, relationships, careers, or our own abilities to feel secure. Yet these things, as good as they may be, cannot carry the full weight of our hope. Only God can. When our trust is anchored in Him, we stand on ground that cannot be moved.

As you walk through situations that feel uncertain or overwhelming, remember that God is the One who fights for you. His power is not limited by circumstances, and His faithfulness does not change with the seasons. When you trust in His name—His character, His strength, His promises—you are placing your confidence in the One who has never failed.

Let this promise quiet your worries today. God is worthy of your trust, and He will carry you through every battle you face.

Reflection

My trust is in the Lord, not in my own strength. He is faithful, powerful, and able to carry me through every situation.

Prayer

Lord, thank You that Your name is my strength and security. Help me place my trust fully in You and not in things that cannot last. Steady my heart and guide my steps today.
