A Harvest That Lasts

Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.

[Galatians 6:8 NIV]

Devotional

Paul wrote these words to remind believers that every choice carries a direction, and every direction carries a destiny. Life is full of decisions, big and small, and each one is a seed we plant. When we follow the pull of our old nature, chasing what is temporary or self-centered, the result is emptiness and brokenness. But when we sow to please the Spirit, choosing God’s ways, God’s truth, and God’s voice, we reap a harvest of life that begins now and continues into eternity.

This promise is not meant to burden us but to encourage us. The Spirit is already at work within you, guiding, strengthening, and shaping your desires. Every small act of obedience, every quiet choice to honor God, every moment of turning your heart toward Him plants a seed that grows into something beautiful. The harvest may not appear overnight, but it is certain, and it is rich with God’s blessing.

We often underestimate the power of daily, faithful choices. Loving someone who is difficult, resisting temptation, spending time in Scripture, offering kindness, praying with sincerity; these seeds may seem small, but God sees every one. He multiplies them into life, joy, peace, and spiritual maturity. And beyond this life, they lead into the fullness of eternal life with Him.

Let this promise remind you that what you sow today matters. God is inviting you into a harvest that lasts forever.

Reflection

The choices I make today plant seeds for tomorrow. As I sow to please the Spirit, God grows lasting life, strength, and joy within me.

Prayer

Lord, help me sow to the Spirit in every area of my life. Shape my desires, guide my choices, and grow a harvest of Your life in me. Strengthen me to walk in Your ways each day.
