“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”
[Galatians 2:20 NIV]
Devotional
Paul’s words in this verse capture the heart of the Christian life. When we place our faith in Jesus, something extraordinary happens. Our old life, marked by striving, sin, and self-effort, is put to death with Christ. And in its place rises a new life, one shaped, empowered, and sustained by Him. We don’t simply follow Jesus from a distance. He lives within us, guiding our steps and transforming our hearts.
This promise reminds us that we are not meant to live the Christian life by our own strength. Christ in us is our hope, our power, and our confidence. His love is not distant or theoretical. It is personal. Paul says Jesus “loved me and gave himself for me.” That same love now fuels the life of faith we live each day. We act, speak, and grow not because we are strong, but because Christ lives in us.
Faith becomes the anchor of this new life. We trust Jesus moment by moment, trusting His presence when we feel weak, His grace when we fall short, and His strength when the road feels long. The more we lean on Him, the more His life shines through ours. This is not a life of burden but of freedom, shaped by the One who gave Himself completely for us.
Let this truth steady your spirit today. You are not living on your own. Christ lives in you, and His love is enough for every moment ahead.
