“Look, there on the mountains, the feet of one who brings good news, who proclaims peace. Celebrate your festivals, Judah, and fulfill your vows. No more will the wicked invade you; they will be completely destroyed.”
[Nahum 1:15 NIV]
Devotional
Nahum delivered this message during a dark season when God’s people lived under the shadow of a brutal enemy. Fear and oppression had marked their days. Yet into that heaviness came a powerful promise. Good news was on the way. Peace was coming. God Himself would act against their oppressors and bring freedom to His people. What looked unshakable to them was already defeated in God’s eyes.
This promise reminds us that God sees every form of oppression or heaviness that tries to press against our lives. He is not indifferent to the battles we face or the burdens we carry. God is the One who brings true peace, not the fragile peace the world offers but a deep security rooted in His victory and His presence. When God moves on our behalf, fear loses its grip and hope rises again.
The image of beautiful feet on the mountains speaks of a messenger running with joyful news. For us, this points to the hope we have in Christ. He is the One who brings peace to our hearts, freedom to our lives, and victory over every force of darkness. Where He rules, fear cannot remain. Where His voice speaks, hope breaks through.
Let this promise strengthen you. God is at work even when the battle feels long. His good news is on the move and His peace is already reaching your heart.
