All I Need Is Found in Him

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.

[Psalm 23:1 NIV]

Devotional

David begins this beloved psalm with a simple and beautiful truth. God is not distant or cold. He is a shepherd who knows His sheep personally. A shepherd guides, protects, provides, and stays close. When David says he lacks nothing, he is not claiming that life is perfect. He is declaring that with God as his shepherd, every true need of his heart is met.

This promise invites us to rest in God’s care. There are seasons when we feel overwhelmed or unsure of the path ahead. Yet the Lord leads us with wisdom and gentleness. He knows where we need rest, where we need strength, and where we need protection. Nothing escapes His attention. He provides what we need at the right time and in the right way.

In a world that tells us to strive and control, Psalm 23 reminds us of a better way. We can trust the One who knows us completely. When He is our shepherd, we are never abandoned, never forgotten, and never without His care. Even when circumstances shift, His faithfulness remains steady. He walks with us, and His presence satisfies the deepest longings of our hearts.

Let this truth settle within you today. You do not walk alone. With the Lord as your shepherd, you truly lack nothing that He knows you need.
