David wrote this psalm to encourage believers who were troubled by the success of the wicked and the challenges of the righteous. Instead of looking at what others had or how circumstances seemed, he pointed them back to the source of lasting joy. Take delight in the Lord. When your heart finds its joy in Him, everything else comes into proper perspective. God becomes your satisfaction, your treasure, and your joy.

This promise does not mean God grants every passing desire. It means that when you delight yourself in Him, He shapes your desires to match His heart. You begin to want what He wants. You long for what He delights in. The desires of your heart become aligned with His wisdom, His love, and His goodness.
