Taste His Goodness

Taste and see that the Lord is good. Blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.

[Psalm 34:8 NIV]

Devotional

David wrote these words after experiencing God’s rescue in a frightening moment. He invited others not only to believe that God is good but to experience it for themselves. To taste and see means to come close, to trust Him personally, and to discover through real life that His goodness is not theoretical. It is steady, present, and satisfying for every heart that turns to Him.

This promise calls us to move beyond knowing about God to knowing Him intimately. His goodness is revealed in His presence, His protection, and His unfailing love. When you take refuge in Him, you find a place of safety and peace. You discover that God meets you with kindness, calms your fears, and fills you with hope. His goodness is not distant. It reaches right into your everyday life.

Sometimes we hesitate to trust God fully because we are unsure of what He will do. Yet Psalm 34:8 reminds us that when we take even a small step toward Him, we are met with blessing. He welcomes us with open arms and shows us that His character is faithful and gentle. His goodness becomes something you taste with your heart and see with your life.

Let this promise draw you closer today. God invites you to experience His goodness personally. Take refuge in Him and discover the blessing that only He can give.

Reflection
