Children of a Loving Father

The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again. Rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, Abba, Father.

[Romans 8:15 NIV]

Devotional

Paul wrote these words to remind believers of the incredible transformation that takes place when we belong to Christ. We are no longer trapped in fear or bound by a spirit of slavery. Through the Holy Spirit, God brings us into His family as cherished sons and daughters. We do not approach Him with trembling or uncertainty. We come to Him with the confidence of children who are deeply loved.

This promise reveals the heart of God toward you. He does not want you to live under fear, pressure, or spiritual insecurity. He invites you into a relationship marked by closeness and trust. The word Abba is an intimate expression, similar to Father or Dad. It reminds us that we can call on God with honesty and tenderness, knowing He hears us with love and compassion.

Adoption into God’s family changes everything. You are no longer defined by your past, your failures, or your fears. You are defined by the Father who claimed you as His own. His Spirit within you confirms that you belong to Him. This identity brings freedom, peace, and a deep sense of belonging that the world cannot take away.

Let this truth settle into your heart today. You are God’s child, loved with a perfect love. You can cry out to Him with confidence, knowing He is your Father and He delights in you.

Reflection

God has adopted me as His child. I no longer live in fear. I belong to Him and can call Him my Father with confidence and joy.

Prayer

Father, thank You for adopting me into Your family. Fill my heart with the confidence of Your love and help me walk in the freedom You have given. Teach me to trust You as my Abba, my loving Father.
