“Here is a trustworthy saying: If we died with him, we will also live with him; if we endure, we will also reign with him.”
[2 Timothy 2:11–12 NIV]
Devotional
Paul introduces this passage by calling it a trustworthy saying. It is meant to be held onto, remembered, and relied on. The promise begins with life. When we die with Christ, surrendering our old ways and trusting Him fully, we are given new life. This life is not only future hope but present transformation as we walk with Him each day.
Endurance is at the heart of this promise. Following Jesus is not always easy, but God honors perseverance. Enduring does not mean being perfect or strong all the time. It means remaining faithful, continuing to trust, and choosing Christ even when the road is difficult.
The promise of reigning with Christ points us beyond today’s struggles. God reminds us that faithfulness now has eternal significance. What feels unseen or costly in this season is not wasted. God sees, remembers, and promises a future filled with life, purpose, and glory with Him.
Reflection
Where is God calling you to endure right now? Let this promise strengthen your heart and remind you that faithfulness today leads to life and hope that lasts forever.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for the promise of life with You. Give me strength to endure and remain faithful, trusting that You are at work in every season. Amen.
