“I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry.”
[Psalm 40:1 NIV]
Devotional
Waiting is rarely easy. When answers feel delayed and prayers seem unheard, our hearts can grow weary. Yet this verse reminds us that waiting is not wasted time when it is placed in the hands of God. David waited patiently, not because the situation was easy, but because he trusted the character of the One he was waiting on.
God does not ignore the cries of His children. Even when heaven feels silent, He is attentive and near. Patience in Scripture is not passive resignation. It is an active trust that believes God is working, listening, and preparing the right response at the right time.
This promise reassures us that God turns toward us. He leans in with compassion and care. Your tears matter to Him. Your prayers are heard, even when the answer has not yet arrived.
As you wait, let hope take root again. God’s timing is shaped by wisdom and love, not delay or indifference. He will respond, and when He does, you will see that He was present all along.
Reflection
Where are you waiting on God right now? Instead of letting discouragement take over, choose to trust that He hears you and is already at work. Waiting with God always leads to hope.
Prayer
Lord, thank You that You hear my cry and never turn away from me. Help me to wait patiently and trust Your timing. Strengthen my heart as I place my hope in You.
