Chosen for Lasting Fruit

“You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit, fruit that will last and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.”

[John 15:16 NIV]

Devotional

In John 15, Jesus speaks to His disciples about abiding in Him as the true vine. He explains that lasting fruit comes from remaining connected to Him. In the middle of that teaching, He reminds them of something deeply personal. They did not initiate this relationship. He chose them.

That truth brings incredible security. Your relationship with Christ is not built on your performance, your consistency, or your ability to get everything right. It began with His choice. He saw you, wanted you, and appointed you with purpose. You are not an afterthought in God’s plan. You are intentionally called.

Jesus also says you are appointed to bear fruit that will last. This is not about temporary success or surface results. It is about a life that reflects His love, truth, and grace in ways that echo into eternity. As you remain in Him, your words, actions, and prayers begin to align with His heart. That is why He can promise that whatever you ask in His name will be given. It flows from a shared purpose and deep connection.

Today, rest in this identity. You are chosen. You are appointed. And the fruit God produces through your life will have lasting impact because it grows from Him.
