God Is Looking for You

“For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.”

[2 Chronicles 16:9 NIV]

Devotional

In this verse, the prophet Hanani speaks to King Asa, reminding him of a powerful truth about God’s character. Though Asa had once relied on the Lord, he began to trust in human alliances instead. In response, God sent this message: the Lord is actively searching the earth, not to punish, but to strengthen those whose hearts are fully His.

What a comforting picture. God’s eyes are not distant or distracted. He is attentively watching over His people. He sees your quiet faithfulness. He notices your prayers whispered in weakness. He knows when you choose to trust Him instead of leaning on your own understanding. And His desire is not to condemn, but to support and empower.

This promise reminds us that wholehearted devotion matters more than perfect performance. God is not looking for flawless people. He is looking for hearts that are turned toward Him. When your heart is set on trusting Him, even in uncertainty, you position yourself to receive His strength. He is eager to show Himself strong on your behalf.

Today, you do not have to strive to earn God’s attention. You already have it. The Creator of heaven and earth is scanning the world, ready to pour out His strength into your surrendered heart.

Reflection

God sees my heart and knows my desire to follow Him. I can trust that as I commit myself to Him, He will supply the strength I need for every challenge.

Prayer

Father, thank You that Your eyes are on me and that You long to strengthen my heart. Help me to stay fully committed to You and to trust You instead of my own understanding. I receive Your strength today and choose to rely on You. Amen.
