Ask for Wisdom

“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”

[James 1:5 NIV]

Devotional

The book of James was written to believers facing trials and pressure. Right at the beginning, James speaks about perseverance and maturity. Then he offers this beautiful promise. When you do not know what to do, you can ask God for wisdom. Not reluctantly. Not fearfully. But confidently.

God does not shame you for needing guidance. He does not roll His eyes at your questions or grow impatient with your uncertainty. Scripture says He gives generously and without finding fault. That means you can come honestly, even if you have made mistakes or feel confused. He welcomes your request.

Wisdom is more than information. It is clarity for the next right step. It is insight that aligns your decisions with God’s heart. Sometimes His wisdom comes through His Word. Sometimes through quiet conviction, wise counsel, or growing peace. However it comes, He promises to give it when you ask in faith.

Today, you do not have to carry the burden of figuring everything out alone. The God who sees the end from the beginning invites you to ask. He delights in guiding His children.

Reflection

Prayer

Lord, I need Your wisdom today. Thank You for inviting me to ask and for promising to give generously. Help me trust Your guidance and walk confidently in the direction You lead. Amen.
