“In that day you will no longer ask me anything. Very truly I tell you, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name.”
[John 16:23 NIV]
Devotional
In John 16, Jesus is preparing His disciples for His departure. They are confused and troubled, unsure of what life will look like without Him physically present. In the middle of that uncertainty, Jesus gives them a powerful promise. A new kind of access is coming. Through Him, they will be able to go directly to the Father in prayer.
To ask in Jesus’ name is more than adding words to the end of a prayer. It means coming to the Father based on who Jesus is and what He has accomplished. It is praying aligned with His heart, trusting in His authority, and relying on His finished work. Because of Jesus, you are welcomed into God’s presence with confidence.
This promise assures you that prayer is not empty or unnoticed. The Father hears you. He cares about what you bring to Him. As you pray in Jesus’ name, your requests are covered by His righteousness and guided by His wisdom. God’s answers may not always look exactly how you expect, but they will always flow from His love and perfect understanding.
Today, remember that you are not praying alone or from a distance. Through Jesus, you have direct access to the Father who delights in giving good gifts to His children.
Reflection
Because of Jesus, I can approach the Father boldly in prayer. I trust that He hears me and responds with loving wisdom.
Prayer
Father, thank You for giving me access to You through Jesus. Teach me to pray in alignment with His heart and to trust Your answers. I rest in the confidence that You hear and care for me. Amen.
