Nothing Given to God Is Ever Lost

“‘Truly I tell you,’ Jesus replied, ‘no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age: homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields along with persecutions and in the age to come eternal life.’”

(Mark 10:29–30 NIV)

Devotional

In this moment, Jesus was speaking to His disciples after a difficult encounter with a rich young man who struggled to give up his wealth to follow Him. Peter then asked what the disciples would receive since they had left everything behind. Jesus responded with this promise. He assured them that sacrifices made for Him and the gospel are never wasted.

Following Christ sometimes requires letting go of comfort, security, relationships, or opportunities that feel important to us. At times it may seem like we are losing something valuable. But Jesus gently reminds us that whatever we surrender for His sake will be repaid in ways far greater than we can imagine.

Part of this promise is fulfilled even now. When we follow Christ, we become part of a much larger family. God surrounds us with spiritual brothers, sisters, and homes within the community of believers. We discover that the kingdom of God multiplies what we thought we had lost. Even in hardships or persecution, we experience the richness of belonging to Him.

And beyond this life, there is an even greater promise waiting. Eternal life with Christ is the ultimate reward that far outweighs any sacrifice we make today. Jesus invites us to trust that nothing given to God is ever truly lost. In His hands, every sacrifice becomes a seed that grows into eternal blessing.

Reflection

Today I remind myself that following Jesus is always worth it. Even when obedience costs me something, God sees every sacrifice I make for Him. What I place in His hands is never wasted. I choose to trust that His rewards, both now and in eternity, will be far greater than anything I leave behind.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for reminding me that every sacrifice I make for You matters. Help me trust that nothing given to You is ever lost. Strengthen my heart to follow You with courage and confidence in Your promises.
