Sent to Save, Not Condemn

For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

(John 3:17 CSB)

Devotional

When many people think about God, they imagine judgment first. They picture a God who is watching closely, waiting to condemn every mistake. But Jesus reveals something very different about the heart of God. In this verse, we see clearly that the purpose of Christ’s coming was not condemnation, but salvation.

John 3:17 follows the well known promise of John 3:16, where we are told about God’s great love for the world. This verse explains the mission behind that love. God did not send Jesus to point a finger at a broken world. He sent His Son to rescue it. Jesus stepped into our darkness with compassion, mercy, and a plan to bring us back to God.

This truth is incredibly freeing for anyone who feels weighed down by guilt or shame. Jesus did not come looking for reasons to reject us. He came looking for ways to restore us. Through His life, death, and resurrection, He made a way for forgiveness and new life for anyone who believes in Him.

Today you can rest in the heart of God revealed through Jesus. His desire is not to condemn you but to save you and draw you close. When you understand this truth, fear begins to fade and hope begins to grow. The Savior who came for the world came for you.

Reflection

Today I remember that Jesus came to save, not condemn. I do not have to live under the weight of fear or shame. God’s heart toward me is full of mercy and love. I choose to trust the salvation that Jesus freely offers.

Prayer

Father, thank You for sending Jesus to save the world. Thank You that Your heart toward me is mercy, not condemnation. Help me trust fully in the salvation You have provided through Your Son.
