“This is the confidence we have before him: If we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears whatever we ask, we know that we have what we have asked of him.”
(1 John 5:14–15 CSB)
Devotional
Prayer can sometimes feel uncertain. We may wonder if God hears us or if our requests truly matter to Him. In these verses, the apostle John gives believers a powerful assurance. He reminds us that we can approach God with confidence, knowing that He listens when we pray.
The key to this confidence is praying according to God’s will. This does not mean we must say the perfect words or understand everything completely. Instead, it means aligning our hearts with God’s desires and trusting His wisdom. As we grow in His word and walk with Him, our prayers naturally begin to reflect what He wants to accomplish in our lives.
John gives another encouraging truth. If God hears us, we can trust that He is already at work. Our prayers are never ignored or wasted. Even when the answers unfold differently than we expect, God is responding with love, wisdom, and perfect timing.
Today, you can pray with assurance. Your Heavenly Father welcomes your voice and listens with care. When you seek Him and bring your requests before Him, you are not speaking into silence. You are speaking to a faithful God who hears, cares, and acts according to His good will.
Reflection
Today I approach God with confidence in prayer. I trust that He hears every word I bring to Him. As I seek His will, my heart grows closer to His. I rest in the assurance that He is already working in response to my prayers.
Prayer
Father, thank You for hearing me when I pray. Help me seek Your will and trust Your answers. Give me confidence to come to You with every need and every concern.
