“Then David said to his son Solomon, ‘Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Don’t be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD God, my God, is with you. He won’t leave you or abandon you until all the work for the service of the LORD’s house is finished.’”
(1 Chronicles 28:20 CSB)
Devotional
As King David prepared for the end of his life, he gave an important charge to his son Solomon. Solomon had been chosen to build the temple, a task that must have felt overwhelming. Knowing this, David encouraged him with words of strength and courage, reminding him that God Himself would be with him.
David’s message carried a powerful truth. Solomon was not expected to accomplish this calling alone. The Lord promised His presence and faithfulness throughout the entire process. God would not abandon him halfway through the work. He would remain with him until the task was completed.
This promise still speaks to us today. Many times God places responsibilities, callings, or challenges before us that seem bigger than our abilities. In those moments we may feel afraid or discouraged. Yet God reminds us that His presence goes with us into every assignment He gives.
When God calls us to something, He also promises His help and guidance along the way. He does not leave His work unfinished. Just as He assured Solomon, the Lord walks with us and strengthens us until the work He has begun is complete.
Reflection
Today I choose to be strong and courageous. God has not called me to walk alone. His presence goes with me in every task and challenge. I trust that He will remain with me until the work He has given me is complete.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for Your constant presence in my life. Help me be strong and courageous in the work You have given me. Remind me that You will never leave me and that You will guide me until it is finished.
