“But I will be with you, the LORD said to him. You will strike Midian down as if it were one man.”
(Judges 6:16 CSB)
Devotional
When God called Gideon to deliver Israel from the Midianites, Gideon felt completely unqualified. He saw himself as weak and insignificant, and the enemy before him seemed overwhelming. Yet God’s response to Gideon’s fear was simple and powerful: “I will be with you.”
God did not begin by listing Gideon’s abilities or strengths. Instead, He pointed to the one thing that truly mattered. The presence of the Lord would be with him. With God’s help, what seemed impossible would become achievable.
This is often how God works in our lives. We may face challenges that make us feel small or incapable. The obstacles may look larger than our strength or experience. But God’s promise reminds us that success in His calling does not depend on our ability alone. It depends on His presence with us.
When God is with us, we are never alone in the battle. His strength fills the places where we feel weak, and His guidance leads us forward step by step. Just as He assured Gideon, the Lord still promises to stand with those He calls and to help them overcome what lies ahead.
Reflection
Today I remember that I am not facing life’s challenges alone. God is with me in every situation. Even when I feel weak or uncertain, His presence gives me courage. With Him beside me, I can move forward in faith.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for being with me in every challenge. When I feel weak or overwhelmed, remind me that Your presence is enough. Help me walk forward with courage and trust in You.
