“‘The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.’”
[John 10:10 NIV]
Devotional
In this verse, Jesus paints a clear contrast between His heart and the enemy’s intent. While the thief seeks to take, harm, and diminish, Jesus comes to give. His mission is not just about rescuing us from loss, but about leading us into a life that is rich, meaningful, and deeply fulfilling. This promise reminds us that God’s desire is abundance, not scarcity.
When Jesus speaks of “life to the full,” He is not merely referring to material blessings or an easy path. He is talking about a deep, spiritual fullness that comes from knowing Him. It is a life marked by peace even in chaos, joy that endures hardship, and purpose that goes beyond circumstances. This kind of life is rooted in relationship, not in what we possess or achieve.
Sometimes we may feel like life is draining rather than fulfilling. We face pressures, disappointments, and struggles that seem to steal our joy. Yet Jesus gently reminds us that these things do not define the life He offers. His presence restores what feels lost and renews what feels broken. In Him, we find strength, direction, and a steady source of hope.
This promise invites us to trust that Jesus is actively leading us into fullness, even when we cannot see the whole picture. As we stay close to Him, we begin to experience His life flowing through us. Day by day, He replaces fear with peace and emptiness with purpose. His life in us is not temporary or fragile. It is abundant and lasting.
Reflection
Today I remind myself that Jesus desires fullness for my life, not emptiness. Even when I feel drained or discouraged, His promise still stands. I choose to trust that He is restoring and renewing me from within. His life in me is greater than anything trying to steal my joy.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for offering me a full and abundant life through You. Help me to trust Your promise even when I feel empty or overwhelmed. Fill my heart with Your peace, joy, and purpose today.
