“If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9 CSB).
Devotional
There is an overwhelming exhaustion that comes from trying to carry the weight of your own soul. You may feel a persistent fear that you haven’t done enough to be right with God, or that your past mistakes have created a debt you can never hope to repay. This spiritual loneliness can make you feel like you are drowning in a sea of requirements and expectations, constantly struggling to keep your head above water. God sees the weariness in your spirit and understands the deep desire you have for a peace that finally lasts.
He meets your struggle with a promise that is remarkably simple and profoundly deep. He knows that you cannot save yourself, and He never intended for you to try. By offering a path to salvation that rests on your heart’s belief and your mouth’s confession, He is removing the heavy burden of performance from your shoulders. This is an invitation to stop your frantic striving and to fall back into the strong, capable arms of a Saviour who has already completed the work on your behalf.
Believing in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead is the anchor for your drifting soul. It is the quiet, internal certainty that life has conquered death and that grace has the final word over your story. When you confess that Jesus is Lord, you are not just saying words; you are declaring that you no longer have to be the master of your own destiny or the protector of your own future. You are handing the reins over to the One who loves you perfectly and has the power to keep you safe forever.
Today, you can experience the profound relief of being truly saved. This salvation is not just a future hope, but a present reality that changes how you breathe and how you see the world. You are no longer an orphan trying to find your way home; you are a child of God, fully accepted and eternally secure. Let the simplicity of this truth quiet your anxious thoughts and provide a resting place for your tired heart, knowing that your eternity is held by the One who conquered the grave.
Reflection
I have spent so much energy trying to earn my way into God’s favour and worrying if I was good enough. I am realizing today that my salvation is a gift that I simply need to accept with a believing heart. I choose to confess Jesus as my Lord and trust that His victory over death is the absolute security for my life.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, I confess with my mouth that You are Lord and I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. Thank You for saving me and for taking the heavy burden of my sins and my future onto Your own shoulders. I rest in the peace of knowing that I am Yours forever and that nothing can separate me from Your love.
