“Do not be afraid, land of Judah; be glad and rejoice. Surely the Lord has done great things.”
[Joel 2:21 NIV]
Devotional
God spoke this promise through Joel to a people who had endured devastation and loss. A plague of locusts had stripped the land bare, leaving the nation discouraged and unsure of what the future held. Yet into their fear and uncertainty came a clear encouragement. Do not be afraid. Be glad and rejoice. Why? Because the Lord had already begun to restore what was broken. He had done great things, and He would continue to act on their behalf.
This promise invites us to look beyond what we see and remember what God has done. Fear often grows loud when circumstances look overwhelming or when our resources feel small. Yet God reminds His people that His power is greater than their situation. He has done great things in the past and He is fully able to do great things again. His presence brings hope into places that feel empty and strength into moments that feel impossible.
Rejoicing in difficult seasons is not pretending everything is fine. It is choosing to trust that God is at work even when we cannot see the full picture. He is restoring, renewing, and rebuilding in ways that will become clear in time. His goodness does not depend on circumstances. It flows from His character. When you look back on His faithfulness, your heart finds courage for what lies ahead.
Let this promise steady your spirit today. Do not be afraid. The Lord has done great things and He is not finished yet.

Prayer
Lord, thank You for Your great works in my life. Calm my fears and fill my heart with joy. Help me trust that You are restoring and renewing even when I cannot see it yet.
