The Gift of Relief

“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his faithful love endures forever.” (Psalm 118:1 CSB)

Devotional

There are moments when the fog of uncertainty finally lifts, and we are left standing in the clear light of answered prayer. For the past while, our hearts were occupied by the weight of a coming trial, and the need for surrender felt like a constant, uphill climb. Pan and I have spent these days holding onto the promise that God is our refuge, and today, we are witnessing the tangible reality of His faithfulness. To step out from under the shadow of fear and into the warmth of gratitude is a transformative experience that reminds us of how truly present He is in our most vulnerable seasons.

Gratitude is often the final piece of the puzzle in our walk with God. While we are quick to turn to Him when we are in need, we sometimes move on to the next challenge without fully pausing to acknowledge the victory we have just navigated. Offering thanks is an act of spiritual maintenance, a way of clearing the clutter of past anxieties so we can see His goodness more clearly. It anchors our faith, ensuring that we remember not just the relief of a settled outcome, but the steady hand that guided us through the entire process.

We often feel that we have to be the ones managing the safety and the outcomes of our family, but experiences like this reveal the truth of our position. God was there long before we asked for His help, guiding the hands of the medical team and surrounding our daughter with His peace. Recognizing His work does more than just bring us relief; it humbles us and sharpens our ability to trust Him for whatever the next chapter holds. We are not just thankful for the result, but for the assurance that we are never walking alone.

Reflection

I feel a profound sense of peace as I reflect on how God carried our family through this time of testing. I want to carry this spirit of gratitude into the coming weeks so that I do not default back to my own strength when new pressures arise. I am intentionally choosing to keep this moment of answered prayer at the forefront of my mind as a reminder of His constant care.

Prayer

Lord, we offer You our deepest thanks for Your protection and for the wisdom You granted the medical team during our daughter’s procedure. Thank You for being our refuge and for sustaining us with Your presence when our hearts were heavy. We ask that You continue to watch over our daughter as she recovers, and we commit to keeping our hearts aligned with Your goodness.
